ASIM-LINAMNAM with the new AJI-SINIGANG Cube

When you have kids, you gotta to have some kind of soup dish every meal time. My kids love sabaw  and one of their all time favorite is Sinigang, be it pork, fish or shrimp. It’s one of my comfort food growing up as well, bringing back memories of my mom cooking it soured with tamarind or guava.

Sinigang na Baboy is hubby’s specialty too though I noticed that he uses instant sinigang mix and even pork cubes and all-in-one seasoning to get that sour and meaty taste.

I plan to make my own version of the dish one of these days, and it’s just perfect timing that Ajinomoto just launched their newest product that would help even kitchen noobs like me to achieve the perfect combination of sourness and savory, meaty tast of Sinigang — AJI-SINIGANG Cube!

The new Ajinomoto Sinigang Cube is all that you will ever need to cook Sinigang with the preferred blend of sour-savory (asim-linamnam) taste. It is perfect in providing the balanced rich, savory deliciousness and appetizing sourness to any sinigang dish. Each cube is “ZoopSiksik™” because it is packed with the right level of tamarind sourness and savory taste from meaty extracts.

I now have my not-so-secret ingredient! 😀

Will be whipping out a mean Sinigang na Baboy soon but before that let me share with you this very easy Asim-Linamnam Pork Sinigang recipe:

(Makes 4-6 servings)

  • 2 pcs. AJI-SINIGANG Cube
  • 1/2 kilo Pork liempo, Sinigang cut
  • 92 grams tomato, quartered
  • 30 grams onion, quartered
  • 1 1/2 liter water
  • 90 grams gabi/taro
  • 80 grams labanos, sliced diagonally
  • 45 grams string beans,cut into 1 1/2 inches
  • 90 grams kangkong
  • 1 pc green chili

How to cook:

  • Boil pork in water for 40-50 minutes until tender.

  • Simmer. Add gabi/taro and simmer for 6 minutes.

Step2

  • Season and simmer. Add AJI-SINIGANG cubes and other vegetables. Simmer for 5       more minutes until cooked.

Step3

Super easy, right? Plus, with the new AJI-SINIGANG cubes, no need to buy separate sinigang mix and pork cubes.

I can only imagine how many extra rice I’ll be having lol!

AJI-SINIGANG® Cube is available in single 13g pillow pack cube for P5.00 and 8 pieces of 13g packed in re-sealable stand-up pouch for P38.00.

adding this to your usual natural sampaloc essence (okay I don’t know how to say it in english, yung pinag pigaan ng sampaloc pag pinakuluan) will surely make for an awesome sinigang dish… My daughter and my son also loves sabaw, and it’s the only other thing that they will eat with rice aside from hotdog. 🙂

I have to say that this could be a really weird thing to market since sinigang in a cube? It sounds ridiculous at first. But then I thought how many will learn how to cook a sinigang with the right the asim. Come to think of it, this product has a wide market to cater. I use to dorm before that’s why I find this helpful even to college kiddos who can cook stuff for themselves. 🙂

My son loves sinigang! His favorite is when I use pork face since it’s very, very tender. He is on a phase wherein he loves anything with soup. This is the first time that I’ve heard about a sinigang cube. I’ll try this out soon just to check the difference. I only use the usual pack, and the taste is always bitin for me so I use more than 1. I hope this one tastes better 🙂
